Star Buck was bred by Mappes who has had tremendous amount of success this past summer. Star Buck was the Champion Duroc Boar at the 2011 NSR Weanling Pig Extravaganza! Mappes also bred the $100,000 Champion Duroc Boar at the 2011 STC and the $33,000 Reserve Champion Duroc Boar at the 2011 WPX. The $100,000 Boar was sired by Buck Dandy who is also Star Buck's sire. The dam of the $33,000 is a littermate to Star Buck's dam and both females are littermates to the $17,000 Duroc Boar who he sold at the Southwest Type Conference.
